Our councillors in West Hill

A Fresh Start for West Hill

Peter Carpenter

I have lived in Putney since 1999, and been a Labour Councillor since 2010. As a former Finance Director, I lead on Finance, and so have an overview of all the issues across Wandsworth. The son of a bricklayer, I am passionate about building more homes. Not luxury flats along the riverside, but homes ordinary residents of West Hill can afford.
We also need to drive forward a programme of improvement of the council’s existing housing stock, raising it to modern standards. We should improve the cleaning and maintenance of our council housing and the upkeep of the estates, and crack down on fly tipping.

I moved to West Hill over twenty years ago and I love living here. I want to ensure that West Hill gets its fair share of attention and resources. It is essential to actively seek out and listen to the views of all users of council services and provide residents with the opportunity to influence decision making.

As Chair of The Edgecombe Hall Residents’ Association, I have lobbied the council to provide meaningful consultation on the retrofitting of sprinklers in the ten tall blocks in West Hill and have strengthened links with other local residents’ associations with the aim of ensuring that our views are listened to and acted on.
